Guest gotnho
As i play the game i saw units getting "promoted" (those yellow thing on their head). I read throught some messages and i think that when a unit get 3 of those that unit can get upgrade or something. I'm i right? If i'm right where do i bring the unit to get them upgrade? Can someone tell me more about those yellow thing since i'm a newbie to dune. Thanks in advance.
peseverance
Those bars are experience points...if that unit destroys a certain amount of enemy units (usually calculated by cost e.g. 1 Sonic Tank gives same exp. as 15 Fremen)You may not upgrade these units as it is automatic
themurl
But if you are the atreides and you get a unit with 3 bars you can put it in your barracks and the units of that type that you train will already have one bar, if you put another one in it will bwcome 2 bars and another one for 3 bars
vidiware
atreides specs.Very uselessbut when have the ability to use its damn good...Stealth snipers... and Light infantry arre REally Heavy
Timenn
I've posted some time ago the entire list of all new advances of getting experienced.http://www.dune2k.com/forum/index.php?board=17;action=display;threadid=2557I copied it from the rules.txt
Black_Emperor
1 more thing soulreaver, ONLY 3rd level veteran atreides INFANTRY can be used to upgrade. not subhouse with atreides or atreides vehicles
exatreide
best way to get elite inf is to train a group of about 15 of them.then to go out there and atack las tanks ect.

Desert_Eagle25
He's right mech. Try it sometime. :)
Timenn
Yes, 1 elite = 1 bar, 2 elite = 2 bars, and 3 elites (max) = 3 bars
Devastator_Mech
So if you put 3 elite snipers in, every sniper you build would have 3 bars!! and be cloaked already??!!!
Timenn
Yes :) That makes the advantage of House Atreides
Devastator_Mech
Except my Fremens, all my infantries died before they reach level 2 or 3, so i'll rarely recieve this advantage.
Timenn
It ONLY counts for Atreides UNITS. So also if you are Harkonnen and you capture an Atreides Barracks, and you get elite Atreides units. You can upgrade the Atreides Barracks
Devastator_Mech
I know, that means even though it is an advantage, you'll only recieve this in long games, and that MUST be VERY long too!!!
Navaros
upgrading units is a useless feature because you are NEVER gonna be able to do it an any online game unless you have already won the game anyhow.i have played thousands of online Emperor games, and not once in any of those games did I ever had the opportunity to send Inf back unless my enemy was already dead anyways. in which case, sending Inf back to the barracks is a waste of time and a useless thing to do.you can NOT send Inf back unless it is a LEVEL 3 veteran. and once you put in the LEVEL 3 veteran, you only get LEVEL 1's back out. which makes a totally useless feature of Emperor gameplay into an ABYSMALLY USELESS feature of Emperor gameplay
Timenn
Maybe it's useless for online, but I found it very useful with campaign. Especially on missions where they attack you as insane (homeplanet + hard campaign missions) Deploy some Kindjal behind the first line. And mostly they got the last shots. And that will make them veteran very quickly. This counts also for snipers
nemafakei
By the way, shooting worms with snipers is good for upgrading them (sorry, Timenn). Snipers are powerful vs worms, becaus worms have flesh for armour.
Devastator_Mech
Infact your right. I once had an infantry war online, i grouped the Atriedies sniper, Fremen Warrior and the Imperial Sardaukar as a group. My foe controlled a worm and came towards my group, thought the group is dead for sure so i just lefted it there, but the Snipers and Fremens killed it in two salvoes from long range !! IxianMace
Flame Tanks, ADPS, Chemical Troopers, and any unit that can kill infantry quickly are pretty effective against worms.
ken124578
umm... no, they'll be eaten if they're gonna face him 1 on
Devastator_Mech
Obviously man!! No ground unit could kill a worm in 1v1.
IxianMace
Notice that all the units are in plural form. Of course they would not vs a worm 1 vs 1!! LOL!! ;D But the ADP(s) would have no problem.
Devastator_Mech
Absolutely, but i'll say it has a problem in following it when a worm travels at full speed !!
