gryphon
That depends on the game and platform you are using. :)so... ?
Andrew
Something better than dialup?Internet connection that does not block ports, or some other protocols. (uPnP?)
gryphon
I bet a game of chess would go perfectly over dial-up ;)
Sneakgab
I knew the game mattered of course. Forgot to mention that I pretty much had all online gaming in mind. Not that I really care mind you. I can't think of anything I would want to play on-line right now. Mostly just curious. gryphon
for me I am on 5mb cable and an XboX. It's noticeably slow with larger rooms (16 players). No problems with smaller groups. Then in a couple of weeks I'm on 25+ mb so that should solve it.
Sneakgab
Well, what effective speed is required to play anything online properly? Also, am I the only one who couldn't log into Dune2k yesterday?Apparently, some were able to (I think).Strange thing was that it was JUST dune2k. Andrew
Nope, it was down for me as well.It all depends on what game you are going to play. Speedwise I would think 50kbps down and up would be enough bandwidth. The most important factor would be your latency and such. If you are in countryside with poor internet you may be kicked out for lagging too much.

Sometimes I have no problems at all, others I cannot even connect.
