Caid Ivik
ZING!!! :DThe Czech version looks fairly close to what the Arabic would be, if I'm reading the Czech orthography correctly. The verb form yaḥya (not really two words, "ya hya", as FH put it) is present tense used as an optative; "chouhada" should be (ash-)shuhada "the martyrs".I think that was translator's point, to show the Arabic roots more clearly; and easier to a Czech reader, who understands other sounds under "ch" or "ou"...and many Arab countries were allies of CS at time of translation. MrFlibble
Is there any information on the correct pronunciation of the names Shadout Mapes, Schwangyu and Dortujla?
SandChigger
Nothing on the first two, but correct pronunciation of the last can result in swallowing of the tongue. So pronounce with care!
Zephaniel
Is there any information on the correct pronunciation of the names Shadout Mapes, Schwangyu and Dortujla?I always assumed it was a straightforward "SHAD-owt." Not sure about the others.

arnoldo
The city of Onn is pronounced with a nasal inflection. I like the way it's pronounced by the reader in the God Emperor of Dune audiobook multi-cast version ( Simon Vance if I'm not mistaken).
