Gobalopper
Interesting take on how to solve the water problems in the US Southwest:http://matsysdesign.com/2009/06/25/sietch-nevada/
Andrew
The indoor picture looks neat. But the amount of resources to build that (I presume underground?) would be a lot. And don't they have earthquakes in that area?I could certainly see smaller versions made (say the size of walmart underground).
veK
I was asking myself the same question (earthquakes). Looks interesting though. You know, when I read the word sietch my first thought was about the pc game Dune (first part) when you have to drink the water of life. I still have that image right in front of me. Funny how some things (unimportant obviously) can be remembered even after such a long time. Tehpevis
Wow, I can't say just how awesome that looks. Just be thankful we haven't felt the need to really invent the Stillsuit yet.
Barbarossa
Well then. They've certainly adopted a rather pragmatic view on possible future events, haven't they.... Still, seems to be a much more viable solution to the water shortage than some I've heard of. Such as Desalination and piping of water from the Gulf to the area.
