Trust me, its a constellation whose tail pooints north, which is where Maud'dib got the meaning "The one who points the way". At the end of the book, however, Frank Herbert and his editors screw-up by writing that it is an imag3e in the second moon, but that isn't the first time it is mentioned as a celestial body, the first time it is a constellation.
