Dunenewt
Really? About two pound a pint? I would have thought a pint there would have been quite expensive as they are when you go to the cinema or the restaurant.

Andrew
I plan on buying some wine today or sometime this week.Peller Estates French Cross Selection cabernet/merlot 200ml (to make sure it is the one I want). I'll have to check out the shiraz version as well since it comes in 750ml, the others come in 4 litres which is too big for me.Jost Terra Rosa 1 litreBoth are red wine.I got hooked on red wine during new years eve holidays. Although I havn't drank any since then :P

gunner154
I remember getting a sip of champagne when my dad offered it to me. I couldn't get past half a mug's worth (or even a third for that matter). Drinks that have alcohol as it's main focal point (ie not necessarily the majority in composition) don't sit too well with me.Don't you feel... weird drinking all that? Giddy, and a little less control over your consciousness. It's starting to sound like a trip, the way I'm describing it...Being sober, I should refrain from posting here, and I shall. Geez. Andrew
Red Table Italian:Bolla Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 750 ml $41.99Is that the correct kind? It's the only amarone della listed/sold in my area.Sadly no brunello listed.
nampigai
read about how the Amrone is produced here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amarone - it's my absolute favorite redwines. If your money don't add up - go for a Ripasso instead. Ripasso is the

Vanguard3000
Went to the pub last night to send off a few of my colleagues at work. Had a couple of Guinness with my boxti, and a whole bunch of rum & Cokes, of varying strength (same hottie-clone bartender, though...). I'm surprised at the absence of a hangover this morning.Haven't had rum & coke in a long time. It was good to get reacquainted.

Good food, bonfire, only one person sick (and then got dry heaves ewww!!), luckily no puke got in my shoe. Found another person who loves indie music.12 pack beer, 8 pack beer, pint of rum, bottle of wine, some chocolate bars and other stuff. mmm. exatreide
Had drill this weekend, and last night went to a bar with another medic, a mental health specialist, and one of our supply guys.I think the fact that I have a military ID, or the fact that the bouncer was very large and very dumb. But managed to get in.Few rounds of MGD, shots of stoli, jaeger bombs. Went back to the armory, dropped off the mental health specalist because he was tanked already. Picked up the commo guy and went back. Couple more rounds and then I drunkenly danced and made out with some girl on the dance floor. Headed back at about oneish. Fell asleep on my cot, the commo guy passed out on the half court line, the other medic in his car and the supply guy in the supply room.woke up at like 5:30 for the rest of drill, and finished ordering my equipment and helped clean.I love my job ha. Dunenewt
Anyone tried Ouzo? I've been drinking about 300ml of Sambuca before I go out most nights now, and apparently some guy's got a bottle of Ouzo, which is similar, so I will be sampling it on Friday night. Dragoon Knight
Ouzo is hands-down my favourite spirit. It tastes really strongly of liquorice, but doesn't have that usual alcoholic "tang", which is really good for me, because that's what puts me off most drinks. It has a special way of getting you drunk, too. The best way to drink it is have about 5 or 6 shots (or more, depending on how much you need your legs) within about half an hour, interspersed with other, lighter drinks. You'll find yourself taking longer to get drunk in that half-hour, but afterwards, you hit this wall of alcohol. It's quite a lot of fun suddenly being unable to form complex sentences. :PThe last time I really drank Ouzo properly, I ended the night running down an extremely steep road. It was Summer, so a whole load of frogs had come out from the nearby pond to bask in the warmth of the tarmac. Needless to say, it was extremely fun trying to dodge them all. :DNo frogs were harmed, and no sickness was had. Ouzo is great. Highly recommended. How would you compare it to Sambuca?
Dragoon Knight
Ouzo is definitely preferrable. Sambuca does to me in a few hours what 10 pints of Stella does after a whole evening. I get totally drunk, yes, but in a less "fun" way, if you can understand. When you're so drunk that you feel restless, and get irritable when the festivities end... that's not an especially great evening. But Ouzo has a way of always making me drunk in the right way. So that I feel comfortable singing as I walk home in the freezing cold (it's always freezing cold in the UK at night when you're drunk). Or that you are happy participating in the casual vomit, to make room for more. :PTrust me, stick to Ouzo as a replacement for Vodka, Sambuca, etc. You won't regret it. Beonid
Just had what I thought was a bottle of beer for dinner. I sculled about a third of the bottle before I realised that it wasn't beer, but the robitussen cough medicine I'd been taking for my cough. Been experiencing strange effects - just what wikipedia article said. I'm going to sleep it off
Mahdi
Rye Whiskey, Scotch Whiskey, Scottish Gin, Regular Gin, and Lakeport Honey do not make a good combination.
