Edric O
A quick glance at the forum stats reveals that several dozen new members register on FED2k every month. But most of them never post much at all. I think that should change. So, if you're reading this and you have recently registered - or if you registered a long time ago but haven't posted much - stop lurking and introduce yourself! Or else we'll take your water.
alchemi2
Maybe they are not posting due to a lack of interesting subjects at the moment, most posts are centered around quantity rather than quality.I mean how many of the post this month have been about post count and keeping post counts up?If you join you can see which topics have new posts and which threads you have read, i am under the impression guests cannot at glance do that, so maybe they join for that reason alone. jeff2429
Hi, I'm new.
Edric O
No you're not. You registered 5 years ago! :PMaybe they are not posting due to a lack of interesting subjects at the moment, most posts are centered around quantity rather than quality.Trouble is, if you don't keep the quantity up, people will get bored and leave - and then you won't get quality either. Khan
I think the quality posters will always stay, or at least return. Totally escaping is impossible.
gunner154
I would gladly welcome Gunwounds, Spectral Paladin and EWS with open arms.
Dunenewt
Gunwounds still comes on now and again but he doesn't post.
acid-crash
Hi everyone, I'm from Ukraine. I was intrested in Dune Games since 2000-2001.At this time not much new from them is created. So I'm looking for some promising projects, that could continue Dune Saga.

Dunenewt
Welcome to Fed2k acid-crash!
gunner154
Welcome. Several independent projects are being run. You'll find them scattered around the subforums here, mainly in Dune Editing and Arrakis. Other Dune Games would be a good place to start.Do post in other forums as well. Nothing beats an active, lively discussion :P
Dunenewt
There's several Dune mods for different games, and there's also a new Dune film coming out.
Edric O
Welcome acid-crash! You are the first new member to post in this topic, and I think the first Ukrainian on FED2k. Have you tried any of the mods for Emperor?
Dunenewt
I sent him a message welcoming him to Fed2k and telling him to post on this topic, I think we should send a message to all new members. Come to think of it, one of the mods for SMF boards is a custom message you receive in your IM inbox when you register. Kirby Gotenks absorbed
The best way to get people to post is to send a message saying "welcome, please post more" and I don't mean to be rude with that.
Dunenewt
I'm sure a less blunt more friendly message will suffice.
Kirby Gotenks absorbed
I know, I was just too lazy to make it sound nice. :(P.S. welcome (to me too)
Edric O
Well, we get less than one registration per day on average, so an automated script may not be necessary - we could do it manually. We could develop a standardized welcoming message, and ask a senior member of the community (like, say, Dunenewt for example) to IM it to newly registered members. Dunenewt
I saved the one I sent to my outbox so I could send it to other members.
Timenn
Isn't there a welcome already in the activation email?
gunner154
I'm very prone to deleting welcome mails from the "System Administrator".
Andrew
Yah, I don't like automated private messages.
Edric O
I hereby appoint Dunenewt our Official FED2k One-Man Welcoming Committee. Please proceed to send welcoming IMs to newly registered members - but first, could you send me a copy of that IM so I can see what's in it?
Andrew
Or Dunenewt could post it in this thread for all to see to make recommendations.
Edric O
You're right. That's a much better idea.
