gunner154
Nice observation on the transformation of the Ordos. Besides, the Ordos used gholas in their armies, so it's no doubt that they would be associated with the Tleilaxu. Throw in their characteristics in the last two books and... Dunenewt
Well I do like techno so that's why I like the Ordos sound track. I hope Frank Klepacki helps out in any future Dune game with the music though.
gunner154
Then it should make sense that being a non-techno lover, I'm more for the Atreides and Harkonnen soundtrack ;)
Dunenewt
I think all the music was good, fitting in with the individual houses.
Emperor Harkonnen
Yeah the music fits perfectly with every house, though I associate the Atreides music the most with the Dune story. It would have been cool to have the Bene Tleilax as well, what do you think their music would sound like? Or the ixians?
Dunenewt
Who would you like to do the music in the new movie? Its got to be Hans Zimmer for me, or Klaus Badelt.
Emperor Harkonnen
How about Bryan Tyler? he did a great job with Children of Dune miniseries
Dunenewt
Hans Zimmer would be a great choice though, as he has done films such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Hannibal, the new Batman films, Pearl Harbour. Simpsons movie etc. He did some of these films with Klaus Badelt, another great soundtrack composer.
gunner154
I associate the Atreides music the most with the Dune story. It's the same for me. The Atreides soundtrack has an epic feel to it. It always feels... uncertain. Just like many things in Dune (bar prescience, which is still debatable). It feels like it's a movie, and when the game music makes me feel like I'm playing a part in a movie, I like it. Cheers. It would have been cool to have the Bene Tleilax as well, what do you think their music would sound like? Or the ixians? The Bene Tleilax soundtrack? I'd probably sound like the Ordos, though not so electronic. Maybe something Middle Eastern, considering their similarity to that culture.I have nothing to say about the Ixians. They either do with no soundtrack at all, or they sound lke the Ordos too. After all, when you're all on money, who can beat the Ordos at their game? Dunenewt
The Bene Tleilax music wouldn't be electronic at all, it would all be acoustic. Possibly like the GLA music in C&C Generals.
Vanguard3000
The very talented Jason Downer made a track that was inspired by the No-Ships (called, fittingly, 'The No-Ships'), but he doesn't seem to be hosting it anymore. I'm glad I downloaded it when I did.His Neuromancer suite is absolutely amazing.
Dunenewt
What genre is it?
Vanguard3000
Well, download some of his stuff and see.'The No-Ships' was a serene and mysterious sort of instrumental. It always makes me think of the BG No-Ship drifting through the minefields orbiting Junction.
Gunseng_Harkonnen
Bene Tleilax music seems to me more arabian (fremen-like). If we think about their relligion, it would be pretty fitting. If no, some eastern music.Ix...electronic, since they are machines builders. Maybe not as sinister as Ordos but still. More optimistic, maybe some voices as interludes. AeonGrey
Doesn't the baliset have some kind of crank or motor mechanism in it? I could be wrong on that, but I swear I remember it being described that way, in which case it actually sounds pretty similar to a hurdy gurdy.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurdy_gurdyObviously the instrument isn't the right size. Kokiri-Mentat
LOL! how the hell do you know about the hurdy gurdy? are you a violinist? well anyway, going back to Hans Zimmer, I like his music for the big scenes when big, important things are about to happen, but I would much prefer John Corigliano or Eric Whitakre for the more intimate personal settings in scenes. They haven't done much. Whitakre is mostly Choral stuff outside of scinema, and some of you may remember Corigliano from the Red Violin soundtrack. Emperor Harkonnen
How about this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NyckelharpaSeems quite similar, don't know how it sounds though
