firehawk
Hi, this has been bothering me for a while...Does House Ordos ever appear in the books? As far as I remember, they weren't mentioned in the few 3 or 4... never got to reading the last 2.So, I mean, did Westwood just create the Ordos to mix it up a little with another race?Or is house Ordos a "real" (well, at least in Frank Hubert's universe) house? Thanks. harkahn
I think Westwood might have added it in to mix things up, but I do believe i heard something about house Ordos being mentioned in the Dune encyclopedia, but im not sure, you would have to inquire further. - Jason. marc
Well...the Ordos do NOT exist in Herbert's duniverse, just in westwood's.
prosthetic_eye
ordos do exist!!! read frank herbert's "Dune Encyclopedia" it's stuff frum his notes, and look under either houses, great or great houses it will mention ordos.
Mahdi
Herbert didn't write the dune encyclopeadea and ahd nothing to do with it.
prosthetic_eye
gee mahdi, herbert obviously had something to do with the encyclopedia if it was from HIS NOTES as it said in the beginning of the encyclopedia... it doesn't matter if he wrote it or not, ordos wasn't a westwood creation, maybe the bio, but not the name. and it also doen't matter if he wrote it because it was from his notes, which were his ideas that weren't used or weren't important enough...-DNA (s i c)
Mahdi
gee DNA, based on his notes like Lynch's and Jadorowski's Dune's were based on his books? I can't seem to find any mention of weirding modules or hive minds in the novel, can you? Herbert said the encyclopedea was interesting, but thats all. It is described as a "Cannon Duneverse" because of the MANY differencies between it and the novels. If you go the the official site and check out the FAQ you will see that Brian Herbert is very adament that the encyclopedea is very different from the books and shouldn't be looked at for any other reason than for interest. If you want real Dune, read the books.
prosthetic_eye
i dont want to start one of those gay MB wars. I do read the real books damn it,and all i was saying was that the ordos are not a westwood creation, the name was in existance BEFORE the game(s) were even created! so please do not assume because it makes an ASS out of U and ME (ASS-U-ME=ASSUME get it?)
