Shiroko
And don't offer some odd 3rd party games (Though these will be accepted) I'm more interested in games that everyone believed they gonna be great until someone actually played them.I'm purposely won't include my example for now.-Shiroko
ken124578
The biggest let-down was C&C Generals. :(
Shiroko
Actually in C&C's the prize will go to Tiberian Sun, which with all its hype convinced me rather fast it was bad.Rather boring maps graphics and units resulted in a medioacre campaign and a much worse multiplayer experience where people could have a game for hours only to have it end because someone used an engineer. (Since this was pretty much the only really effective way to win without having twice the forces of your enemy.-Shiroko
Anathema
Star Trek Armada. Some people seemed to to think it was really special, but it wasn't innovative in any way and got boring very quickly.
Andrew
Treu about star trek armada, especially if you were the borg. For me as long as I built 2-3 fusion(super?) cubes, I was instoppable against several enemies. But that wasnt very balanced as a fleet of them would wipe anything out. Shiroko
Never heard of it, what kind of game is this anyway?
Andrew
http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=star+trek+armada&meta=Always helps. (although startrekarmada websites are not working.Basically a RTS for Star Trek. That has no improvements over any other RTS.

Shiroko
I only played very little of generals cause I was in the military, but what is so bad at it? My initial impression was that it looks very good and has interesting untis for multiplayer.Did I miss anything?-Shiroko
Megashrap
 I think for me it was that there was a ton of assumption by alot of Emp. players when it was due for release that somehow it was going to be the next EBFD. And I'll admit, I jumped on that bandwagon also. In my opinion, if there ever was a "turtle and nuke" type game, then that is one of my top picks. However, I will agree it is an alternative RTS, just not on my favorites list. :)

ordos45
I'd say Star Trek Armada II. Completely ruined with micromanagement, 5 types of resources compared to 1, your capital ships were now less effective comparatively, and even your small ships took 7 officers to crew. On max with 999 officers, even if you built all small craft, in addition to your stations, things ran out quickly. Shiroko
UFO Aftermath is also awful.I think it's probably the only game I didn't want to finish in the last couple of years. It's like taking all the fun out of X-Com and then letting yuo play it.-Shiroko
erjin999
Chaos Engine 2 on Amiga, anyone remember ?Part one was fantastic. Excellent 2 play game. Part 2...well, it was head to head, and was crap. By the way, it was made by Bitmap Brothers who were excellent games makers themselves. GhostHunter
Something about a squad of big, buff Special Ops forces going into a town and getting their ass handed to them by some Mexicans wearing hats that doesn't make me feel too confident. bryorama
Worst Game Ever: Steel Soldiers. (I thought it was gonna be mass ownage after I found out that it was gonna be off of Z, but it turned out really, really horribly.Best Game Ever: The golden days of E:BFD when (as GH says) *Shrugs* I grew up in a day-and-age of playing where radar was never really used by any player, so in fact I'm use to not having one, though I end up constructing it later-on. Ah.. good old days. But I was a noob back then..Period --> .
