Andrew
Kansas City Star Mentions the Butlerian Jihad book.Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson seem to have hit their stride with Dune: The Machine Crusade (701 pages; $27.95; Tor). It is some years after Serena Butler's pyrrhic victory in Dune: The Butlerian Jihad. The plot is multilayered (read: convoluted), but Herbert and Anderson are on their own ground now, and taking their time in telling the history that leads up to Frank Herbert's Dune. No time for the tome? Try the unabridged, 22-CD(!) version ($59.95), read by Scott Brick. Good diction, good fiction.
