  1. First off, thanks in advance for any help you can give and for all the work that has clearly been put in updating and maintaining this game. I haven't actually played Dune 2000 before, but enjoyed Dune 2 a lot in its day, and this caught my eye on an abandonware site. I'd love to be able to play it, but unfortunately my computer is too smart for me and can't let me do that. I'm concerned that it might start calling me Dave soon. Anyway, I downloaded the full GruntMods 1.6.2.2 edition from https://www.gruntmods.com/dune_2000_gruntmods_edition/ (download 939) and opened the installer. I chose to install it on drive D rather than drive C, since drive C is my SSD and most of my software is on D. No problems so far, nor did I get any reports of problems throughout the unpacking process. I chose not to launch the game immediately and went to take care of something else, then a few hours later got back to it and tried to start things up. Here's where the problems started. Not only will the game not start, none of the files seem to have actually been installed on my computer. There are no start menu programs, nor shortcuts on the Desktop. The directory I chose for installation doesn't exist on my computer, as far as I can tell. I've made hidden & system files visible and still I can't find the game folders or files. I've tried to run the installer again and it tells me that the game's already installed and to please uninstall it and relaunch the installer. It's possible my virus scanner killed the installation process but didn't pop-up any notifications, I guess; I haven't been able to try it again with the virus scanner disabled, since the installer thinks the game is already installed. My guess is that there's a registry key I need to erase to install the game again, which would be automatically erased in the uninstall process had the uninstall file been created. Of course, if it had I might not have needed to ask the question in the first place. QED. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get it working, or if nothing else does anyone know the registry key that the installer program uses so I can erase it and experiment further myself?
  2. New PC set up only three days ago with following specs; Windows 10 Professional x64 Intel i7 6700k 16 GB DDR 4 3000 MHz 480 GB Crucial SSD 1 TB Seagate HDD 950 GeForce GTX nVidiaGraphics 2 GB GDDR5 Running Gruntmods Dune 2000 version 1.6.4 and have tried multiple settings within the config options and cannot fix the black borders around the game on lower graphics modes. Can't play on 1080p as on a Sony Bravia 40" TV because this computer is mainly used as a media PC with some gaming used. On previous Windows 7 and Windows 10 machine, device had ATI Graphics which scaling modes worked to fix this, however the nVidia Control Panel provides no help in fixing this, as I have tinkered about with each mode in the scaling options, having No Scale mode on, Aspect Ratio and Full Screen, none of these options fixed. Wish to use at the very most, 1280x1024, perhaps 1024x768, going as low as the base resolution, but at the moment, none work with the scaling options provided. Any insight that can be given would be fantastic, as I've been dying to play Dune 2000 again, as it's been over 3 years since this was last run. Thank you.
  3. Hi there. Just recently downloaded the latest Gruntmods version of Dune 2000. I installed everything from the cutscenes to the D2k+ Toolkit. However, there is no music or in game sounds at all. Doesn't matter what game mode you play or watch, there is no audio. I checked the files and all the music files seem to be there. Im running on windows 7 dual quad core I7 processor 3.4Ghz. Nvidia sound card. Everything with the game seems fine, I played for over an hour and visually it is fantastic. Just be cool if I could hear stuff Any help would be appreciated.
  4. I recently installed the GruntsMod edition of Dune2k, in hopes that it would be easier than attempting to run the original ISO or find some kind of Abandonware varient of the original program. However, upon initial launch the game only displays a black screen. I've tested it in several resolutions with several different settings without any success. I've also attempted running the Executable directly from the directory to no avail. I have noticed however that when I press the escape key on my keyboard the in-game music starts to play. however the game doesn't display anything at all. Hopefully someone can help me solve this issue; I was really looking forward to playing this game.
  5. Greetings Experts; I have been trying (and failing) to run Dune 2000 Gruntmods Edition 1.6.1.9 on my new gaming machine (Win 8.1 x64 Pro). I've downloaded both the full and lite versions from the Gruntmods site. Installed each separately and tried to run them. Regardless of the compatibility modes I've tried the result is always the same; one black window hanging and a second window behind it with the error message. This is before the Dune 2000 splash screen (which I have yet to see). I've tried compatibility modes for Win8, Win7, XP and Win 98. What is especially aggravating is that Edition 1.6.1.9 plays just fine on my old Win7 x32 system. The error message window is titled: Blt The exact error message, with spaces included, reads: Windows can not create any more DCs. [ gGameTicks = 0 ] I am using a single monitor (screen). My video card is an MSI GeForce GTX 970 TwinFrozr (4GB) on an MSI Game5 mobo running an i5-4460 Haswell (3.2 GHz) chip with 16GB DDR3-1866 RAM.
