I've tried to install the newest patch and also the install patch and neither solved the problem. I am running Windows 2000 sp4. Any help is appreciated.

Now the game can't go higher than 1400x1050 despite the dgvoodo settings (and it's not even a selectable option in-game; the list of resolutions only goes as high as 1024x768), the mentat announcements and reinforcement timers are oversized, whenever every time I try to place a structure I get an advisory tooltip as if I never played the game before, the mission loading screen's briefing text doesn't appear if I'm playing from my campaign save (it does if I start a new one, though), and every time the game enters or exits a mission it briefly goes out of fullscreen. And the game CTDed once, but that might be a fluke; still, I mention it for comprehensiveness' sake.

I tried everything I could think of, but nothing works. Even a clean reinstall didn't do the trick, unless I missed something. For clarity's sake, I did accidentally install the game in a different directory when I tried that aforementioned reinstall; does that create some sort of duplicate entries in the registry or something?

Ran into a problem where Emperor crashed when i destroy the enemy construction yard. All factions. Campaign and skirmish.

Graphics are not an issue, tried it every which way.

Patched to 1.09.

Using Win 7 64 Ultimate.

Crashes when set to use compatibility mode.

AMD graphics are using latest drivers.

Any advice?

The problem is that whenever I put a CD disc in other than the install disc, it treats it like the CD is not in the CD drive.  I get to the screen where I try to start playing the campaign like Atreides for example, so I put in Atreides CD, and it treats it like the CD is not even there.

DG VooDoo 2 wrapper created by Dege

Managed to launch fullscreen, widescreen in 1600x900. In the mentioned wrapper i've changed only not to launch in fullscreen but in a "stretched window". Runs good:)

My specs - Dell XPS l702x - it's a laptop with built in intel Hd3000 and Nvidia Geforce gt555m. Trust me it's a real pain in the... to run older games on this config. Something with integrated graphics card structure and priorities of mainboard to use one or another. 

Although thanks to DG VooDoo managed to launch Shogun Total War. Still working on Warhammer Dark Omen though.

Tested solution on another laptop with Ati graphics radeon hd 4200 - couldn't launch in proper widescreen, although I guess it's a directX issue. And the card itself. It has really issue'ish drivers.

I've had the game for years and years, and it always worked fine on my laptop, but when i picked it up for the first time in almost 2 years, after I finally found the old disks again, it just wont work. I bought new disks thinking that my old ones were just too scratched or something and it still wouldn't run. So I then tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it wont even run to reinstall. I'm not great with computers but have been spending alot of time recently on forums trying to get my old favourite (Emperor: battle for dune) working on my laptop and I can't seem to find a fix that works. I don't even know why it stopped working in the first place. 

I'm really hoping someone can help me  because it's very rare that I find a game that I love this much. If you need info about my laptop to help then let me know and i'll reply asap, thank you!

I'd heard that it has a co-op campaign which sounds pretty cool, but I can't figure out how to host one myself (didn't even see the option in LAN) and I know the servers are loooong gone, so I was wondering if anyone here knows how to host a happy little family session.

I'm still hoping EA will let Westwood revive the franchise like they just did with C&C, but until then I'd like to catch up on a few years of missed gameplay.

I have this following issue :

When we play on LAN the game is terribly too fast.

We set the game speed at 1 or 2 and it's ok the game run slowly but 2second later the game become too fast (6 is max speed but here its maybe more).

I have this problem where I cannot capture the game on OBS. No matter what I try, how many options I change - nothing helps. Can anyone please help me to resolve this issue? Thank you!

I have Windows 10, and latest OBS.

I would like to add, that this is the one and only game that doesn't get captured by OBS. I've tried many old games already, and they are all doing well. Emperor is the only one refusing to be captured. Are there some special settings, or options that I have to know about, and missing? Thank you so much!

So after almost 20 years i decided to play Emperor again. Holy shit. So glad to see there is still a community! I was able to reinstall the game on my macbook using paralles and windows10. It works fine!

My dream is to find some Players for online matches like back in the old days.

I know the westwood online service is not available anymore.

However - Is it still possible to play emperor online ?

What do i need to do to make online multiplayer games possible?

Hi, before selecting in the multiplayer info options the server: EMPEROR could go online what it was: xwis but after that I enter and when I give it host nothing happens and it does not let me select anything until after a few seconds it goes out: " error to connect westwood disconnectig "some solution? , is to be able to play the coop campaign with my brother, thanks I hope someone is still active here ||note: sorry I am not very good with English :/ ||

Its a little advanced as I am gong to explain how to mount .iso file's  using a script so that all the work to setup is one time

and you can then just play the game anytime you want  (it will mount all 4 disks and update the resource file correctly)

 First properly install dune onto windows 10
1. get the Install Fix patch from the fed2k site and use it to fully install Dune Emperor - do not change the location it installs (c:\westwood) just leave it to install how it wants to
You will be using Windows 10 built in support for mounting virtual disks (earlier windows versions may work) .
2. You will need to make an .iso image from all the four disks (windows 10 cant do this - so use free 'infraRecorder' to do it   (find it on google) (hint :- Actions menu,Copy Disc,To Disc image will do the job)
Name each image file name exactly these following names respectively for disks 1 to 4
Emperor1.iso
Atreides2.iso
Harkonnen3.iso
Ordos4.iso

they must be named exactly that  - put all the 4 .iso files in one folder. in the same folder  open notepad and save with the filename    start emperor.ps1  this can be any name as long as it ends in .ps1

 paste the following script into   start emperor.ps1 and save it in the same folder as the .iso files

RUNNING THE GAME
 Open the folder with the iso's and find the start emperor.ps1 file using windows explorer,  Right click the start emperor.ps1 file and select 'run with powershell'

you will see each .iso disk get unmounted then mounted as  4 new drives, the resource editing will briefly report progress to the script window that opens and the game will then start

the game will now run without requests for disk mounts

(This script is all my own work)

Currently running windows 7 and I've already downloaded the no cd patch and the emperor install fix 1.0

I seem to be having problems getting Emperor: Battle for Dune to run properly. I use Windows 7.

I get the error "GAME.EXE - Application Error" and it reads "The application was unable to start correctly (0x0000005). Click OK to close the application."

Here's what I've tried to help fix the issue:

I have tried setting the compatibilty mode to Windows XP, in service packs 1, 2, and 3, and it hasn't worked yet.

I have attempted to set the affinity, to make sure its only running on one processor, as I have a quad-core system, but it tells me that "This operation could not be completed. Access is denied." I am running the game as an administrator, and am the only use for my computer, so I am not sure as to why it would tell me this, but whatever.

I don't use any virutal machines, not yet anyway, as I would prefer to get the game working without having to use other programs to work around the issue, unless no other solution is possible.

My discs are legit, so that is not an issue.

My video card is an NVidia GeForce 9100. I have been reading several posts about problems involving NVidia cards, so I updated my drivers using the automatic tool, and had no problems doing so. Sadly, it made no difference.

I had this game working just fine on my old computer, which is no longer working for a year or more due to power supply issues, so neither running it on another computer or using an old video card (my old card was integrated) are options for me.

I am somewhat baffled by this problem, and would appreciate any suggestions. Attached is a picture of my error, if that helps.
