Super Dune 2 1.5 - first mission yard explodes

Apologies, this must be an ultra noob question.

But on the first mission, as Atredis, it has me playing as (brown) Freeman?;

then the yard explodes semi-randomly (almost on a timer).

Is this a bug with an obvious fix? First mission layout attached.

Any help much appreciated; as I tried to play this years ago, had same problem and just gave up. Was looking forward to what 1.5 had to offer.

This happens because you play against the Ordos, and they have a palace on the map. The Saboteur is invisible in v1.0, so the only way to guard against this is to surround the Con. Yard with your troops so that the Saboteur cannot reach it.

That makes perfect sense, thank you much! Only part I don't get is Super Dune didn't / couldn't fix?

I'll patch my original install to v1.07 immediately. 8)

All the Best,

Roy

---Update---

Wow, even knowing that... that scenario is nearly impossible to complete! Had to redo three times to beat it. Can't harvest above with Merc Devastator, below Merc Siege, so constantly babysitting the harvester to not trigger Siege; meanwhile Devastator lays waste to your troops and base.

Level has to be finished in 8mins or less, otherwise you are toast. Whoever designed that level deserves some unkind words!!!

The patch won't work with SD2. I kept the new version with the v1.0 of DUNE2.EXE for nostalgia reasons.

The level is perfectly playable, and there's no need to be angry. Once you have dealt with the Saboteur, use one of your Raider Trikes to distract the Devastator - Raiders are fast enough to outrun Devastator's shells and still lure it away from your base. Then focus on harvesting the Spice south of your base. The rest of your troops will take care of the Deviators.

Well more frustrated than angry. Yeah, I forgot about the attack and lure away strategy, and the deviators make the level fun at first.

But the Siege tank ready to wipe out the harvester, on the first level... that's low. Added with the saboteur, its playable (yes I got past it), but certainly not enjoyable.

Well, Power C and Shadow Knight (the original authors of Super Dune 2) intended it to be much harder than vanilla Dune II. Other levels seem to be somewhat easier in this respect though.
